01Acceptance of terms
By creating an account, browsing providers, or booking a service on Connect Local Africa (“Connect Local”, “we”, “us”), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the platform. If you use Connect Local on behalf of a business, you confirm you are authorised to bind that business.
02Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter contracts.
- One account per person; accounts are personal and non-transferable.
- You must provide accurate, current information and keep it updated.
- You are responsible for all activity under your credentials.
- You must verify your email address before booking or offering services.
03Nature of the marketplace
Connect Local is a marketplace that introduces customers to independent service professionals. Providers are independent contractors, not employees or agents of Connect Local. We are not a party to the service contract formed between a customer and a provider, and we do not supervise, direct, or guarantee the work performed.
04Bookings and cancellations
A booking request is an offer. The provider may accept, decline, or propose a quote. A confirmed booking is created only when the provider accepts.
- Both parties may cancel before work begins, subject to the Refund & Cancellation Policy.
- Providers must communicate delays promptly through the platform.
- Repeated no-shows or late cancellations may lead to suspension.
05Payments, escrow and commission
Payments are made through the platform using M-Pesa or other supported methods. Funds are held in escrow after payment and released to the provider once the customer confirms completion.
- Connect Local deducts a platform commission from the released amount.
- Provider payouts are made to the payout destination on their account.
- Off-platform payment to avoid commission is a breach of these terms and voids buyer protection.
- All amounts are shown in Kenyan Shillings (KES) unless stated otherwise.
06Provider and customer obligations
Providers must hold any licences their trade requires, carry appropriate insurance, and perform work to a competent professional standard.
Customers must describe the job accurately, provide safe and lawful site access, and pay agreed amounts on time.
07Prohibited conduct
- Illegal services, fraud, money laundering, or circumventing verification.
- Harassment, discrimination, threats, or hate speech.
- Scraping, reverse engineering, or automated abuse of the platform.
- Fake accounts, fake reviews, or impersonation.
08Content and intellectual property
You retain ownership of content you upload (photos, listings, reviews) and grant Connect Local a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display and distribute it for the purpose of operating and promoting the platform. The Connect Local name, logo, and software remain our property.
09Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, poses a safety or fraud risk, or is required to be removed by law. You may close your account at any time from Settings; outstanding bookings, payouts and legal obligations survive closure.
10Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The platform is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Connect Local is not liable for the quality, safety, legality, or outcome of any service performed by a provider, nor for indirect or consequential losses. Our aggregate liability is limited to the platform fees you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
11Disputes and governing law
Raise a dispute through the platform first — most issues are resolved by our support team within 5 business days. Unresolved disputes are governed by the laws of the Republic of Kenya and subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Kenyan courts.
12Changes and contact
We may update these terms; material changes will be notified by email or in-app at least 14 days before they take effect. Questions? Email supportconnectlocalafrica@gmail.com.
